As the Pearl River Delta continues to develop and define its identity, an integral element in spurring urban activity is the creation of cultural infrastructure through mixed-use developments. A common theme within the PRD, chiefly its most populated cities Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Guangzhou is the creation of large scale mixed use developments as a cultural and social activator. Through rental price data extracted from Soufun.com as well as event information taken from Douban.com, the influence of these mixed-use developments can be seen within each city, as well the overall definition of the urban fabric within the PRD.
